Attorney John M. Kuker is a sixth-generation Texan who was raised in Amarillo and received his B.A. in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 1995. Prior to law school, Mr. Kuker was a lobbyist and government affairs professional in Houston, Texas. He left Texas for Wyoming in 1997 to attend the University of Wyoming law school. While at the University of Wyoming, John was selected as Comment Editor for the Wyoming Law Review and was a Mock Trial Finalist for both his final two years of law school.
Following a summer clerkship with the Texas Commissioner of Agriculture, John joined the historic Cheyenne, Wyoming law firm of Dray, Thomson & Dyekman P.C. as an attorney in 2000, wherein he practiced in the areas of personal injury litigation, business litigation, contract disputes, and real estate and tax litigation.
John reluctantly left his colleagues at Dray Thomson after being offered a senior position with a boutique litigation firm based in Boulder, Colorado and New Orleans, Louisiana. Prior to forming what became Overstreet Homar & Kuker, John spent two years exclusively litigating business and tax cases for Fortune 500 companies.
John was ultimately afforded the opportunity to return to Wyoming and form what became Overstreet Homar & Kuker in 2013, which continues to be one of leading boutique litigation firms in the state. Former District Attorney Scott Homar and L. Cooper Overstreet continue to operate the firm with their team, litigating cases throughout Wyoming.
Mr. Kuker was also a partner/lobbyist in The Zelos Group, LLP, and drafted several bills passed by the Wyoming Legislature. John spent time as Senior Counsel to the Cheyenne, Office of OHK while relocating back home to the Texas hill country in 2017. He also served as Senior Counsel/Partner with Henson & Rockafellow, PLLC in Burnet, Texas from 2020 to 2023, until his partner Cody Henson was elected County Court-at-Law Judge. Mr. Kuker was also an adjunct professor at Colorado State University from 2017-2019.
John joined Attorney Brian White Personal Injury Lawyers as Senior Trial Counsel in the spring of 2024, where he now focuses his 23 year litigation practice exclusively on helping injured clients. He maintains an active personal injury docket throughout the State of Texas. Outside work, John and his wife Becca have co-owned and co-managed MISRA Records, an Indie-Americana, Washington D.C. based record label.
John also served on the Arts Cheyenne Board of Directors from its inception to 2018, bringing acts as varied as Black Flag to Jonathan Richman to Cheyenne. When not at the office, John enjoys spending time with his wife, Becca, and their two children, Bosley and Hayes.
