Common Speeding Behaviors That Lead to Crashes in Humble
Speeding often occurs alongside other unsafe driving conduct. A driver who is in a hurry may take several risks at once, increasing the likelihood of a collision.
Common examples include:
- Exceeding the posted speed limit.
- Driving too fast in rain, heavy traffic, poor visibility, or poor road conditions.
- Following another vehicle too closely at high speed.
- Accelerating through a yellow light or entering an intersection too fast to stop safely.
- Weaving between lanes while traveling faster than surrounding traffic.
- Failing to reduce speed in construction zones, school zones, curves, or congested areas.
- Speeding while distracted, fatigued, or impaired.
When several forms of unsafe driving contributed to the crash, our Humble personal injury lawyers gather evidence of each one rather than treating speed as the only issue.

Compensation Available After a Speeding Accident
If another driver caused your injuries, you may be able to recover compensation for the financial and personal losses caused by the crash. The amount depends on your injuries, treatment needs, income loss, available insurance, and other facts.
Economic Losses
A claim may include:
- Ambulance, emergency room, and hospital bills.
- Surgery, medication, imaging, and follow-up treatment.
- Physical therapy and rehabilitation.
- Future medical care supported by your medical evidence.
- Lost wages and other income.
- Reduced earning capacity when an injury affects your ability to work in the future.
- Vehicle repair or replacement costs and other damaged property.
Non-Economic Losses
Depending on the injuries, compensation may also be available for physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, and other non-financial harm resulting from the collision.
If a speeding crash caused a death, a surviving spouse, children, or parents may have the right to bring a wrongful death claim under Texas law. We can review who may bring the claim and what losses may be recoverable.

How Our Humble Speeding Accident Lawyers Prove Liability
A driver may deny speeding, and the insurance company may argue that speed did not cause the crash. Our Humble speeding accident attorneys look for objective evidence that shows how the vehicles were moving before impact and why the collision occurred.
Depending on the case, we may seek:
- Dash camera, surveillance, or traffic camera footage.
- Event data recorder information from the vehicles.
- Photos of vehicle damage, debris, tire marks, and the crash scene.
- Witness statements.
- Measurements from the roadway and point of impact.
- Vehicle inspection records.
- GPS, telematics, or other electronic data when available.
- Testimony and analysis from qualified accident reconstruction professionals when needed.
Evidence can disappear quickly. Video may be overwritten, vehicles may be repaired or sold, and electronic information may not remain available indefinitely. We take steps to preserve relevant evidence and document the collision before those sources are lost.

Texas Comparative Responsibility in Speeding Accident Cases
Texas uses a proportionate responsibility system. If you are found partly responsible for the crash, your recovery is reduced by your percentage of responsibility. For example, if you are found 20% responsible, the damages awarded to you are reduced by 20%.
You cannot recover damages if you are found more than 50% responsible. That means a finding of 51% or more bars recovery, which is one reason insurers may try to assign part of the blame to an injured person.
Our speeding accident attorneys in Humble review the physical evidence, witness accounts, vehicle data, and other records to challenge unsupported allegations of fault.

Texas Statute of Limitations for a Speeding Accident Claim
Texas generally gives you two years from the date a personal injury claim accrues to file a lawsuit. For most speeding accident injury claims, that means two years from the date of the collision. Wrongful death lawsuits are generally subject to a two-year filing period that runs from the date of death.
There are exceptions and other deadlines that can apply in some cases. Waiting can also make evidence harder to obtain, so it is better to have the filing deadline reviewed early rather than assuming you have the full two years.
