The Lupus Foundation of America is devoted to improving the lives of people affected by lupus through research, education, support, and advocacy. The Texas Gulf Coast Chapter is Houston’s local section of the national organization. Its volunteers, lupus medical experts, and supporters conduct research and education programs in Houston to provide relevant medical information to lupus patients and to increase awareness of this harsh disease.

National Black Book Festival

National Black Book Festival - Houston, TX

The National Black Book Festival (NBBF) is an annual African American book event in Houston, the largest such event in the South. Now in its 14th year, the NBBF promotes African American literature through author and publisher exhibits, author discussions and signings, a children’s festival, and more. The event attracts a wide array of prominent authors, publishers, book clubs, libraries, and reading enthusiasts from the Southwest U.S. and across the country.
